Knowledge for your Mind

____The battle field is upon us...this battle is not a battle that we must take up arms & slay our fellow man, but a battle for our Minds.

VAJRA (va-shra)

___ Vajra is a Sanskrit term which translates as "Thunder Bolt" or "Diamond", essentially symbolizing Indestructibility & Ultimate Reality (Emptiness). The Vajra metaphorically represents our true nature, that part of us that is Pure, Untaintable, Immovable, & Indestructible (like a Diamond). Specifically it represents the "Wisdom Method" or "means" for which one conquers & severs the root causes of ego: ignorance, delusion, attachment, anger, & fear.

VAJRA: more in depth

____The thunderbolt translation represents the realization of urgency, activating immediate & extremely precise action or method.

_"Then like a bull who has heard the crash of a thunderbolt, we explode into fierce action."

_____The Vajra implement held in the right hand is most commonly translated as Diamond. Therefore, symbolizing the ablity to cut any object and overwhelm with its incomparable brilliance. The Vajra or Dorje represents great durability -- superior hardness and immutability that is eternal. Ultimately representing the true nature of Mind: Pure, pristine, crystal clear awareness...Emptiness.

____ The mystery of the mind, the omniscience, the pure pristine awareness,
_____Indicated by a symbol of eternal strength and constancy,
_____The Vajra Heart of Knowledge and Emptiness is like the sky --

bullet Dorje

____There are a couple different interpretations of the Tibetan word "Dorje". "Do" = precious stone or gem and "rJe" = noble prince, or "lord". Thus translated as either, "the adamantine stone of all stones", or more literally, "the Lord or holder of the Precious Stone" or Vajra.

____Vajra embodies not only the brilliance of reflected illumination, but it also the impervious and fixed solidity or "Point of Power" around which all else turns -- the "axis mundi" or hub of the world.

Dorje & Vajra then, are like a Diamond, but the Diamond by itself is an inadequate symbol. However, just as the Diamond's hardness will cut all other substances on earth, so the ritual Sceptre symbolizes that which is indestructible, enduring, ultimate, and irresistible. Another way to describe Vajra could be "indomitable".
